- Steve is an international bird tour leader with WINGS, a Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences, a widely published author, and a sought after speaker at birding festivals. His recent books include the widely acclaimed photographic guide to Petrels, Albatrosses, and Storm-Petrels of North America (2012, Princeton University Press) and, along with Will Russell and Ian Lewington, the ground-breaking Rare Birds of North America (2014, also Princeton); he has also branched out into the world of flyingfish, with a book on these amazing creatures due for publication in June 2014. Steve has led many tours around the world, on all continents, and has spent about 4 years of his life at sea, throughout the world’s oceans. Beyond birds and flyingfish, Steve’s interests include chocolate and tequila.
