The First Host – Rangel Diaz

Our first host to carry the Traveling Trinovids in the field was Rangel Diaz. Rangel was the main guide for our digiscoping workshop and works as a naturalist for ECO-ADVENTURES in the Miami-Dade Parks so he knew exactly where to go at Crandon Park in Miami, Florida. A life long Floridian naturalist, Rangel pretty well knows every critter that walks, crawls, or flies through SE Florida and the famed Everglades!

Rangel is also a sponsored guide for the Leica Store Miami and is doing his own “Big Year” in the county. You can follow his fun blog the Epic Big Year for updates on his success. Rangel’s big year started on 1 January 2013, but the Traveling Trinovids didn’t begin their big year until April 7th, 2013 near 10 AM when we first began the field component of our digiscoping workshop. Rangel waited for just the right moment because he’s a professional and wanted bird #1 on the list to be a good one.

The first bird seen through the Traveling Trinovid?!?… a Magnificent Frigatebird flying over the causeway!
