How did Steve Howell and the Sunbird-WINGS team do during the Word Birding Rally in Peru?

Leica Birding Team’s Steve Howell was part of the winning Sunbird-WINGS team for the recent World Birding Rally in Peru – 8 days and nights of grueling travel, from the Pacific coast over the Andes, through the Marañon Valley, and down to the Amazonian lowlands. An amazing event, with our total being “only” 588 species (vs. 575 species for the second-place Field Guides team, who pipped us at the post last December by a slim margin of 2 species!).

Highlights? Sleep will be one, soon enough. But what an amazing country – great birds, great people, incredible habitat diversity. If you can got to Peru, you should!
